About a week ago I was having an inspirational conversation with my baby birth mother and we were talking about how God manifested our existence with a word. The word became flesh. Think about it....to just speak creation into existence. We spend most of our days toiling, trying to create anything. We want all kinds of stuff...cars, clothes, computers, cell phones, stuff upon stuff, a better marriage, better children, or a better life. What if we could just speak these into existence?
A couple things instantly come to mind......then what would we fill "time" with? Would it make us realize finally that time is truly relative? Would it makes us more spiritual and see that material stuff is meaningless but appreciating the connection with each other is paramount.
...then there's the belief that we can create from a word. With the awesome power of God inside us we can do some pretty incredible things.....anything even. Couple that with free will and we can choose what to create.
Haven't we all created "stuff" from a word? Let's say that during that argument we chose to fall silent and NOT use hurtful words? Would domestic violence be as prevalent? What about the friend that we knew was hurting and we chose to speak an encouraging word? Would that thought of suicide in them dissipate?
Now let's dream BIG.....what about all our lives? Imagine manifesting the best possible life for our relationships, our children and the world with a word? What would you say to make that happen?
I choose the word LOVE.
I 2nd that Notion of LOVE... There is None Greater..!!
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteMichelle as an aside, you and I never fully talked about this year-long journey that you are currently undertaking, so forgive me for any questions that pop up in my mind from time to time. Last night I was trying to experiment with the possibility of not communicating verbally, and I was stuck by the incredible discipline needed not to speak. I also was worried about the physical damage that can come from this practice. The vocal cords are muscles and one of the things that stayed with me from my stroke experience was that if I didn't use my muscle and joints, I would lose the use of them. Have you spoke to your doctor about this? It may be a silly question but it does come from love. I am so proud of you and I look forward to your future postings.
Your big brotha,
Ed
Thanx....I did talk to my doc. Basically he said I will have a fierce sore throat.....smile
He said to keep throat losenges with me. Also, I will still be making sounds so my vocal cords are not turned off completely.
It will NOT be like Jodi Foster in "Nell"......or the movie "the piano"... for that matter. LOL!
I LOVE YOU... smile
I speak health into everyone’s life, over the past week, I have heard of, and being involved either personal or new someone close of the death or sickness of 6 people. Health is so important and we take it for granted, we must honor the temple of the most high, and treat it with respect, rid it of all things that are not good for it, exercise, drink water, these things are free, and thank God for your health
ReplyDeleteI love you!!! I did this very same thing in the name of my art, but for only a week. I finished my novel that month. I wish i was in the place in my life where I could do that again. It was so wonderful and I had a fuller connection with GOD!!
ReplyDeleteYou've raised a very contemplative thought. "creating with word" a biblical metaphor as I understand by the way you put it. Yes I agree that the way we choose to react or respond does put us in the drivers seat. A wisdom that takes any human being time and practice to achieve. Your choice to respond with love is greatly needed given that were always living with the threat of self destruction as a race and individually. I have to add that your baby's birth mother, something I did not know, was lucky to get you as a mother she couldn't be. Beacuse you have chose love, openly, I'm sure your kids will have the strength and direction that alot of black children are misssing to be successful adults in every way.
ReplyDeletePS your blog topic was more profound than you think. One day I will tell you.
Keep painting
(as steel meets steel)
take care
Darryl
Michelle:
ReplyDeleteYour emails are really inspiring and thought provoking. Even better, I agree with your viewpoint!! I suggest you save them all for posterity.
How many days until Spring??

Jeremiah 31:3 saith the Lord, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."
ReplyDeleteVery thought provoking. Makes you think about how we all should carry ourselves and the footprints we leave behind in the lives of others. My word would be PEACE. Being able to have peace within so that it can flow out to others and the world we live in.
ReplyDeleteEphesians 5:1-2 says,
ReplyDeleteTherefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
John 15:9-11 states,
ReplyDeleteAs the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
